England's Bowling Consultant Southee Uncertain on The Ashes Availability

England's fast-bowling advisor Tim Southee is still working through what his involvement will be during the forthcoming Ashes contest in the host nation.

The ex- New Zealand pace bowler is expected to be present for the opening match because of his involvement in the International League T20 tournament, which begins on 2 December in the United Arab Emirates.

The 36-year-old, aged 36, took up a role as the English team's pace bowling advisor in the summer after taking 391 wickets in 107 Tests for New Zealand.

Speaking as the English team for the first of three T20 matches against New Zealand was named, he said of his availability: "We are still evaluating the situation at the moment.

"We'll see what happens over the next little while."

England pace icon Broad had declared the Australian team as their "worst team since 2010", but Southee was in little doubt over what to expect during the series, which begins on November 21.

"In my view there's ever a bad Australian cricket team," he said.

"The team's attention is firmly on our own objectives. In my opinion the caliber of [the English] side that's heading out to Australia is brilliant.

"It should be an absolute cracker, the Ashes. Not only [are|do] English and Australian people eagerly anticipate it, I believe the whole cricket world is."

However, before England head to the city of Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they face New Zealand in Christchurch on this Saturday.
